A few weeks back I received a package of Monk Fruit sweetener to review. I have never heard of Monk fruit before . I used this product to sweeten my coffee and used it to make a cheesecake in my instant pot pressure cooker. I also made some strawberry compote to go over the top of the cheesecake.
This was the best tasting sweetener I have ever tried, in my opinion. It is very sweet and left no aftertaste, that is what I liked the most about it. I have used splenda, truvia and other sweeteners over the years. Actually the Monk Fruit sweetener is the first one I have really liked. The others leave an aftertaste, and are they really that good for you?
First. what is monk fruit anyway? Monk Fruit grown in Asia and is a small sub-tropical melon that has an extract that is 300 times sweeter than sugar.” Sweeteners USA proprietary mixture of the highest and purest Monk Fruit Extract & NON-GMO Erythritol, is an all-natural zero calorie, zero glycemic sweetener with a rich taste of sugar”. I really liked the monk fruit sweetener when I used it in my coffee and my recipe. But the cost of the sweetener is very expensive. I saw this particular bag of Monk Fruit sweetener on Amazon for over $15. That is way to expensive to use on a daily basis. I really like this sweetener but can’t buy it on a regular basis. I highly suggest you try it and see for yourself if you are just as pleased as I was with the taste.Over the last several weeks I have used this sweetener mainly to sweeten my coffee but when I tried it in this cheesecake recipe instead of sugar it was amazing. I made the cheesecake and the strawberry compote in my new Instant Pot pressure cooker. I really did not miss the sugar at all. I am very impressed with the sweetness of the Monk Fruit sweetener and will try to use it again if it becomes more affordable.
