They are! You’re actually going to be making them sweet by melting butter and coating them and then sprinkling them with sugar. Never before have you ever tasted a taco shell that is as sweet and crunchy as these!

What kind of fruit can you add to fruit tacos?

Literally whatever fruit that you want. This recipe uses a combination of fresh fruit such as blueberries and fresh strawberries but you can easily add in fresh pineapple, fresh kiwi, fresh blackberries, or any other type of fruit that is fresh and in season.

Can you use frozen fruit for this recipe?

I wouldn’t. The reason for this is because frozen fruit will thaw and release a lot of liquid which will then make the taco shells soggy. Fresh fruit has liquid in it as well but it tends to stay inside the fruit without leaking out.

This simple fruit taco recipe is a great way to cook up something new and unusual in the kitchen. It’s a fun surprise to tell your family that you’re having tacos for dinner and then present them with these yummy dessert tacos. (This could even be a super fun April Fool’s prank to pull on the kids! And at least it would end with a delicious finish!)

Take the time to whip up these fruit tacos. They’re a simple dessert that isn’t overly loaded down with sugar and a great way to add a few healthy benefits at the same time.

Ingredients

Instructions:

  1. Heat shells for 10 min. in a 350° oven.
  2. Brush outside of shells with the melted butter. Sprinkle the outsides with the decorator’s sugar. (It helps to hold the shells over a bowl when doing this.)

  4. In a separate bowl whip the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until fluffy.
  5. Fold the cream cheese mixture into the whipped cream.
  6. Using a pastry bag and a large piping tip of your choice, pipe the cream mixture into the shells, filling about ⅔ full.
  7. Place strawberries on one side of the filling and blueberries on the other.
  8. Melt the chocolate chips and two tbsp. cream in the microwave. Add additional cream if needed to make a drizzle consistency.
  9. Drizzle chocolate across the tops of the cream and berries. Chill for about an hour before serving.
