Toss the ingredients in your slow cooker, set and forget until dinner time rolls around. Basic pantry ingredients needed, for a delicious, fork-tender pork chop the whole family will love. I use my Instant Pot on the slow cooker setting for this recipe.
Slow cooker meals are a must in my home. I love to cook, but I also enjoy those nights where I feel like I am getting a night off from cooking. With an excellent slow cooker recipe, you take five minutes if that to prep your meal and turn the slow cooker on, and then walk away. I can work on laundry, finish up work, and come back later to a house smelling heavenly. It is like someone else cooked the meal because it is so simple. This bbq pork chops and onion slow cooker meal is a recipe I keep in my arsenal and pull out for nights I need a break or want a tasty pork recipe.
To have success with this recipe, I have to start out by saying, make sure you don’t use really thin pork chops. The reason being is they will cook a lot faster, and you will end up with a tougher chop. Buying a thicker pork chop will give you that super tender pork chop that is smothered in onions and barbeque sauce.
The next thing I always recommend is cooking slow and on low. I do give the option for cooking on high if you are in a pinch of time, but cooking it on low will provide you with optimal results. The reason being is marbled cuts of meat are best when cooked on a lower heat for a more extended period. It helps to tenderize the meat, and that is just going to give you that juicy, fork-tender chop. The more you notice a marble of fat in your pork chops the more tender your results will be.
A lot of times I fall into what to cook along as sides with my main dishes. For these pork chops, I have done au gratin potatoes, a steamed vegetable, potato salad, or even a crisp green salad. There is no wrong side pairings for this pork chop, and they all taste great. I do recommend serving it with a dinner roll, so when you are done, you can soak up all the sauce on your plate. The sauce takes on so many flavors as it cooks, and is such a delicious aspect to the dish. Enjoy this simple and affordable slow cooker recipe, and let me know what you think!
