I have always been fascinated with hummingbirds. When I would go visit my dad him, and his wife had a hummingbird feeder on the porch. I would sit out there sometimes and watch the hummingbirds fly up and feed from the feeder. Hummingbirds are amazing little birds. They can hover in the mid air as if they are floating instead of flying. They can fly backwards, fly upside down, and portray amazin hovering abilities. They are the smallest of all warm-blooded creatures. Their tongue is a straw which helps to pump nectar up quickly. The photo above was taken by one of my friends at work, Robert Cohee. He is an amazing photographer and photographs birds, wildlife and all kinds of animals.
Nectar is the hummingbird’s favorite food. I love watching them hover and feed. I was really excited to receive to review the Perky-Pet® Cranberry Hobnail Vintage Hummingbird Feeder a couple of weeks ago. This is the first bird feeder I have ever owned. This feeder is quite beautiful and made from glass and will match your vintage outdoor decor. This feeder is perfect to use in your garden, backyard or porch. I loved the pale cranberry color of the feeder. It has four flowers shaped feeding ports, holds 24 ounces of nectar and comes with a handy hanging loop. The feeder has a wide mouth that allows for easy filling and cleaning. I had to do some research about how to make the nectar to fill the feeder. I will be making it at home and found it is pretty easy to do in just a few simple steps. It is very important to keep your feeder clean and to replace the nectar every three days to prevent mold from growing. This would not be good for our little friends. My mom is going to help me hang up my feeder, and I look forward to seeing how the hummingbirds enjoy the feeder in the spring. The Perky Pet hummingbird feeder will make a great gift. Hope you will try it out in your own home or give as a gift this holiday season. There is a variety of the Vintage feeders on the Perky Pet website to choose from.
Disclosure: I received the Perky Pet Cranberry Hobnail Vintage Hummingbird feeder free of charge for the purpose of this review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
