Tea Tree Oil Review~ Making My Own Laundry Detergent

Spread the love

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

I wash clothes every Friday night. I usually buy Gain Detergent, or
Tide. I go through detergent like crazy and spend quite a bit of money buying it.I always have  wanted to make homemade laundry detergent and have seen several post on Pinterest about this.Laundry is a chore around here, and I am usually not too thrilled about it.  But yesterday was different. I  was excited about trying out my homemade laundry detergent for the first time. I  wait till about 8  or 9 on Friday night to do laundry but decided  to do it a little earlier.

While loading my laundry, I was a little worried my clothes would not get clean.I noticed when the machine filled with water and started to wash there were little or no suds, and I have read that this is normal for homemade laundry detergent. I later returned to put my clothes in the dryer, and what do you know, my clothes were so clean and bright! I couldn’t believe my eyes.  I am so thrilled. I will never have to buy the name brand detergents again. The original recipe calls for a  laundry bar, I could not find this at HEB where I buy groceries, and there was not time to go to Walmart, so I used a regular  bar of   soap that I had at home. Next time I will look for some laundry soap or ivory soap to use.

First I grated the soap with a cheese grater added the washing soda, Borax and 30 drops of APOTHECARY Tea Tree Oil. I received this oil to review last week. This oil has a very strong aroma but smells   good to me. You  have to be cautious not to add too much while preparing the recipe. Tea Tree Oil has many uses. You can make homemade household cleaners, use as a mouthwash, good for burns or itch relief, oven cleaning, making potpourri, or you can make dryer sheets, how cool is that? I mixed all this together and added the mixture to my blender to break up the soap and grind into a powder.

The recipe guide shows  53  ways to use Tea Tree Oil at home.
I found this intriguing. I have never used this before. What is
Tea Tree Oil? Tea Tree Oil is an oil harvested from leaves of a  tree
Native to Australia. And contains no preservatives, artificial colors, fragrances, parabens, mineral oil, chemical solvents or petroleum.

Homemade Laundry Detergent Recipe:

1 cup Borax
1 cup Super Washing Soda(not baking soda)
1 bar of laundry soap or ivory, or soap of your choice, grated.
30 drops or APOTHECARY Tea Tree Oil

Mix ingredients together. Add to blender and grind to a fine powder.
Store in airtight container. I use about 1/2 per load.. enjoy making you own money saving detergent.

I can’t wait to try out the other recipes in the guide. Have you used
Tea Tree Oil? If so, comment and let me know how you liked it. I loved making homemade laundry detergent, hope you will try it. You can purchase  this product on Amazon.
