My name is David – I’m an average cook, an avid baker (it’s all about pie!) and the shopkeeper of Cheltenham Road on Etsy.
I’ve always been drawn to the great graphics from the 20s-50s and I started collecting paper ephemera years ago (it’s a sickness) when I lived back east. But I never knew what to do with my ever increasing stacks of stuff until it dawned on me I could use the images to decorate drink coasters. Fun, retro and practical – that’s the solution I was looking for.
So now I spend my time in my garage in Los Angeles tinkering away on everything from coasters to re-purposed trays to signs.
I hope you’ll enjoy these Vintage Cookbook Coasters. They are 3.5×3.5 inch squares made of solid, sustainable wood and sealed with numerous layers of a water-based poly so they are shiny, durable, waterproof and heat resistant. The backs are covered with a solid sheet of cork to protect your furniture from scratches. They will add that great retro flair to any table or make a perfect gift for your fellow cook.
If you’d like, be sure to check out my Etsy store for all my other designs – everything from vintage baseball cards, to the glamor of Hollywood Cocktail lounges to bowling!
David is in LA and seems to be having trouble staying in the present. If it’s retro or just makes you feel retro he’s there. He’s all about practicality – everything he makes must serve a purpose – coasters, trays, picture frames – if it sparks great memories, sets the mood or gets the party guests talking he’s all over it.
